Located between Dolus-d'Oléron and Saint-Pierre-d'Oléron, Le Marais aux oiseaux is covered by a large forest. It used to be salt marshes, and the scenery and biodiversity are amazing. In this protected natural area known as a "sensitive natural space," you'll find a wildlife conservation center and an educational discovery park.
A preserved sanctuary
The goal is to actively protect nature and raise public awareness about the importance of preserving the environment. You can explore the area by following a 1.5 km trail that is suitable for all levels. Information signs provide insights into the lives of the animals you'll encounter. For a glimpse of birds of prey, wading birds, and other waterfowl thriving in their natural habitat, climb the 9-meter-high observatory! It also offers a breathtaking view of the entire Bird Marsh site. There's also a mini-farm where you can interact with various mammals and birds.
